turning over a new leaf

I just had to use one of those horribly trite sayings in the title.  But it is official, and it is as some people probably thought – Pat Quinn has been fired as the coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.  I'm guessing that after all was said and done, he is too married to the old school NHL and has not easily or fully adjusted to the new ways of the league.  I also think that he may have made a few too many questionable comments regarding the state of the league and the new rules, and that the Maple Leaf brass was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with him.  Just my opinion.  I'd guess that the boys over at BfloBlog will have some commentary as well.

Good riddance. Should have been fired at least 2 years ago. Very out of touch with today’s game and, from what I’ve read, doesn’t relate to his players very well.

Its about time they got rid of him. The problem is they will replace him with some other old timer who is just like him. The Maple Leafs seem to rely too heavily on the philosophies of how things used to be done instead of looking at the “new” league.

I think his firing is bad for Buffalo, because we beat up on the Leafs pretty good when he was around. Not to mention that some of their players may realize hockey is about scoring goals and not about being a goon.
