diggin’ a hole

I know it's a song by Big Sugar, but it ought to be the theme song for New York State.  This article in the Buffalo News pretty much illustrates what I said here.  These tax cuts that the state is handing out like flyers at a fundraiser have to be paid for somehow.  And that's by borrowing more money.  $11.7 billion by one count.

The debt has grown from $14.4 billion in 1990 to an estimated $50 billion this year before the latest borrowing is added, according to the state comptroller's office. Taxpayers already are paying more than $4 billion annually to pay off previously issued debt.

A little advice to the state:  The first step to getting out of a hole is to STOP DIGGING.
