bay hill – final

Jean Van De Velde is probably thanking Greg Owen for temporarily bringing his name up again.  Owen BLEW a 3-foot putt for par, and then a 3-foot putt for bogey, and ended up with a double-bogey on the 17th to drop two shots and give Rod Pampling the tie and a chance going into 18 at the Bay Hill Inviatational’s final round yesterday.  And Pampling recovered from his own rough day just enough to take that opportunity and win by a shot when Owen’s par putt at 18 lipped out.  Oh what a fiasco of a finish.

Owen not only missed his shot at his first PGA tour victory, but also may have lost his chance to play in the Masters.  He’s now 53rd in the rankings used to determine the field, and a victory would have put him well up in the top 50.

Bad for Owen, compelling to watch.  Like a train wreck.
