gerry adams not coming

Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein and expected guest of honor at a Buffalo St. Patrick’s Day gathering, did not make it here this evening.  It seems he was detained for quite some time at Ronald Reagan International Airport in DC because his name, and his traveling companion’s, popped up on a terrorist watch list.  Interestingly enough, he was at festivities at the White House with President Bush and Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.  According to a Yahoo news report, a Homeland Security official says that Adams has left the Washington area.

So let’s get this straight.  Two people on a terrorist watch list don’t encounter any problems getting into the US.  Then one of them is actually in the presence of the President Of The United States, along with several other leaders, and this is no problem.  Then (my speculation, of course) he tries to hop a flight to a previously scheduled, well publicized, seemingly harmless party where the most important person in attendance will probably be a low-ranking congressman (Brian Higgins).  And THEN he gets detained, inspected, and completely knocked off schedule.  Sounds really fishy to me.  Sounds like someone’s messing with him.  Thoughts?

Well, he is a terrorist, of that there can be no doubt.

Why he would be held AFTER visiting with Bush is beyond me, though.
