reservation tobacco update

It is reported in the Buffalo News today that a major supplier of tobacco products to the Seneca Nation’s various “smoke shops” has stopped shipping to them.  The firm seems to be a little leery of being caught in Eliot Spitzer’s sights as the AG of NY ratchets up the stakes in the reservation taxation issue.

It doesn’t look to me like anyone’s ready to back down on this.  So unless there is some compromise or a definitive action from the Legislature on this, things are probably going to get ugly.  Again.  And smoke shall fill the sky as the tires and pallets burn in protest.

Is it just me, or does it seem that no one, besides Spitzer apparently, is willing to do what it takes to resolve this issue one way or the other?  Thoughts?
